Brooklyn Brewery brings Defender IPA to the UK

Drinks: Beers, Drinks

New York-based Brooklyn Brewery is set to launch its Defender IPA to the UK on-trade at the end of March.

Brooklyn Brewery’s legendary brewer Garret Oliver said that this golden IPA is designed to please both well-seasoned beer drinkers and neophytes: ‘Defender IPA is created with the belief that beer should be interesting, delicious, accessible, unpretentious and downright fun,’ he commented. ‘It has plenty of hop intrigue for aficionados and smoothness for newcomers. A real all-rounder.’

According to Brooklyn Brewery, the Defender IPA has a marked tropical fruit character, a ‘well-muscled’ bitterness from the use of Amarillo, Simcoe, Cascade and Centennial hops, and a dry finish.

The Defender IPA has an abv of 5.5%, well below the strength of Brooklyn’s fuller, richer East IPA (6.9%), already available on the UK market. The new beer will therefore appeal to those who look for a lower-abv option and a fresher, crisper palate.

The American brewery claims it’s an incredibly versatile beer, and that it can be paired with a wide range of foods such as curries or grilled vegetables and meats, as well as nutty mature cheeses.

Defender IPA will be available in 33cl cans and in kegs from the end of March through Carlsberg UK, 01604 668866
