Diageo Reserve’s vodka Ketel One has launched Botanical, a collection of fruit-infused spirits distilled with botanicals, in an effort to satisfy health-conscious consumers’ demand for lower-alcohol spirits.
The range comprises three expressions: Ketel One Botanical Peach & Orange Blossom shows fragrant notes of orange blossoms; Ketel One Botanical Cucumber & Mint has a fresh and crisp herbaceous character; Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit & Rose combines zestiness with intense floral aromas.
All the new Ketel One Botanical labels have an abv of 30%, lower than Ketel’s flagship vodka, and a single measure mixed with soda water only contains 82 calories.
To make Ketel One Botanical, the brand’s vodka is redistilled in copper pot stills with a blend of botanicals. After distillation, the spirits is infused with ‘naturally-extracted essences’ of fruit and other botanicals.
According to Ketel, the Botanical range is set to rival light white wines and classic spritzes in the coming summer season. Indeed, the distillery suggests that Ketel One Botanical’s ideal serve is a Ketel One Botanical Spritz, made by mixing the new expression with soda water, and finished with a fresh garnish.
‘Ketel One Botanical and the Ketel One Spritz offer a thoughtful choice for consumers looking for something new from their summer serve,’ commented Bob Nolet, 11th-generation master distiller at Ketel’s Nolet Distillery. ‘It is the perfect alternative calorie-conscious addition to lower-abv cocktail menus.’
